What are predevelopment dollars?
Predevelopment dollars are early-stage funds that cover critical costs such as feasibility studies, site control, architectural design, environmental reports, and legal services. These funds help developers move projects forward before construction financing is secured.
Who is eligible for WSDI’s predevelopment funding?
Emerging women developers, particularly those located in Michigan, are eligible to apply through WSDI’s programs. Participants in the 2026 WE Develop cohort may qualify for up to $50,000 in predevelopment support.
Why are predevelopment funds important?
Many projects stall before they begin due to lack of funding for initial steps. Predevelopment support helps women developers bridge that gap, attract permanent financing, and reduce project risk.

WSDI offers technical training, mentorship, and access to funder networks. We prepare women to secure permanent financing, connect them with mission-driven investors, and build visibility for women leaders in CRE.
